December Favorites

Favorite Single:

Redbone - Childish Gambino

Childish Gambino completely switched up on us for his new album, Awaken, My Love! It was a pleasant surprise for me. Since I have an old soul, I welcomed the old school/funk/Prince vibe that was throughout the album. The recorded version of Redbone is amazing but his live performance of it!? Everything.

Favorite Album:

4 Your Eyez Only - J. Cole

Oh this album was good. Yeah, it was very introspective, but it was perfect for December and it's been on repeat. Oh, and shoutout to J. Cole for (most likely) going platinum again with no features!

Favorite Discovery:

Cashed Out - Mac Nealy

If you read my Playlist 101 post then you know that I live by being open minded to new music. Being open minded is what brought me to this gem of an album, Pedestals for Angels by Mac Nealy. The album is pretty good but for now, Cashed Out is my personal favorite.

Favorite Turn Up Song:

Chill Bill - Rob $tone

First of all I know I'm late. This song is at least a year old. BUT, this was my favorite turn up song for the month so I had to include it. I can't help that I'm a sucker for well picked samples! I mean the Kill Bill whistle!? A classic!!! Plus, you might be late too...So don't judge me. :)

Favorite Meme:

Haha. I just love that video.

Favorite Playlist Addition:

Surfin' - Kid Cudi

I don't know about you but I'm trying to be the most positive I can be going into 2017. This song perfectly sums up those feelings. It was produced by Pharrell and has a steady beat, so I immediately added it as the grand finale to my Four on the Flour playlist.

Favorite Throwback:

My Flame - Bobby Caldwell

I've been stuck on this "remix" of What You Won't Do For Love that was featured on Bobby Caldwell's album, Timeline: The Anthology, Pt. 1. After forgetting to stop the album after it ended, My Flame started playing and it quickly became a favorite. I've never heard the song before that day but now I listen to it all the time.
